Capable Counseling Philosophy

A woman with shoulder-length wavy hair is smiling and standing with arms crossed inside an office. She is wearing a black blazer over a white blouse, and the background features a white brick wall and large windows with plants outside.

Life can feel incredibly hard sometimes. You might be feeling overwhelmed, anxious, disconnected in your relationships, or like everything is spinning out of control. Whether you're carrying the weight of trauma, grief, addiction, infidelity, navigating blended family challenges, struggling through divorce, co-parenting, or simply wanting to feel more at peace — you're in the right place.

What sets my work apart is that I see therapy as a true team effort. Together, we will gently uncover your inner strength and build real capacity for change. I believe you already have everything you need inside — sometimes we just need support to access it.

Clients with relational needs can be seen individually or as a couple, depending on what feels most supportive. Whether you're an individual seeking relief from anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, addiction, or infidelity, a couple wanting deeper connection, or a family working through parenting, co-parenting, or blended family dynamics, I walk alongside you with warmth, honesty, and practical tools.

Using a blend of talk therapy and somatic (body-based) approaches, we’ll work toward clear goals so you can feel more grounded, capable, and hopeful in your life and relationships.

My promise to you: We will work as a team toward a happier, healthier, and more peaceful version of you and your relationships.

  • Getting started is simple. To get started, scroll to the bottom of this page and schedule a callback at your convenience.

  • Counseling services are available for individuals, couples, families, and groups. If your counseling needs fall outside the counselor’s scope of competence, this will be discussed during the complimentary phone consultation. For additional information, please visit the Services section of this website.

  • Finding the right counselor can be a journey, and not every counseling experience is the right fit. My philosophy is that therapy should be purposeful and goal-oriented. Together, we will identify clear goals, regularly evaluate progress, and tailor our work to your unique needs.

Through empathetic listening, practical tools, and collaborative problem-solving, my goal is to help you create meaningful change and build the confidence to navigate future challenges independently.

  • At this time, I do not accept insurance and operate as a private-pay practice. While this may change in the future, one reason for this decision is that insurance reimbursement generally requires a mental health diagnosis and may influence the length, frequency, or focus of treatment.

As a private-pay provider, I have greater flexibility to tailor counseling to your unique needs, goals, and personal growth without the constraints of insurance requirements. This approach allows us to focus on what is most beneficial for you while maintaining a high standard of ethical and individualized care.

If you would like to seek reimbursement through your insurance provider, please inquire about the availability of superbills.

  • I believe therapy should be tailored to each client's unique needs, concerns, and goals. Rather than relying on a single therapeutic approach, I use an integrative model that draws from evidence-based practices best suited to your presenting concerns.

For example, when working with couples recovering from betrayal or rebuilding trust, I often utilize principles from the Gottman Method. When working with individuals experiencing depression or anxiety, I may incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) alongside somatic approaches to address the connection between the mind and body.

During our first few sessions, I will gain an understanding of your concerns, strengths, and goals. Based on this assessment, I will develop a general treatment plan and discuss the therapeutic approaches that may be most beneficial, allowing you to have a clear understanding of the direction and goals of our work together.

  • Yes, you may invite another person to participate in a therapy session. You will remain the identified client, and the purpose of the invited participant's involvement should be discussed in advance.

To ensure the session is productive and supportive, it is helpful for the therapist and client to clarify goals, expectations, and boundaries prior to the session. In some situations, involving a trusted friend, partner, or family member can provide valuable support, promote understanding, and contribute to meaningful growth and healing. Such participation is welcomed when it aligns with your therapeutic goals.

  • Life happens, and occasionally appointments need to be rescheduled or canceled. The practice policy is to charge the full session fee for appointments canceled with less than 24 hours' notice. However, circumstances are considered on a case-by-case basis, so please discuss any concerns with your therapist.

Unexpected situations should not prevent you from pursuing the support and care you deserve. If you have questions about the cancellation policy, please don't hesitate to reach out.

  • Rescheduling may be necessary from time to time. If you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment, please contact your therapist as soon as possible. Keep in mind that your therapist may be in session and unable to respond immediately.

You may reach out by phone, text message, or email. Messages will be returned as soon as reasonably possible.

  • Appointments are available Tuesday through Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., and Friday through Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

If you require an appointment outside of these hours, please contact your therapist to discuss availability and scheduling options.

  • Please see the Services page on this website.

  • If you are experiencing a mental health emergency or are in immediate danger, call or text 911 right away. You may also call or text the National Suicide & Crisis Lifeline at 988 for free, confidential support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Please note that this practice does not provide emergency or crisis services.
